The term “earthworks” refers to a group of construction and civil engineering works involving the modification of the terrain and the installation of various networks (VRD for Voirie et Réseaux Divers) as part of urban infrastructure or building projects. Earthworks involve preparing the ground by levelling, clearing, filling and creating the slopes required for rainwater run-off. This work is essential to ensure the stability of foundations and infrastructures. VRD includes the design and construction of roadways (roads, streets, sidewalks), sewage systems (stormwater, wastewater), drinking water networks, as well as telecommunications and electricity networks. These elements are crucial to ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians, as well as access to essential services.
